My son and his friends love water balloons, but I hate having to spend my time filling and tying balloons when I’d rather be chatting with my guests. Sponge bombs are the perfect water balloon alternative for outdoor summer parties. They can be easily made with cheap kitchen sponges from your local dollar store. Make them in a variety of colors and plop them in a large bucket or small wading pool filled with water for an activity kids of all ages are sure to enjoy. (If it’s hot enough outside, I’ve been known to throw a few sponge bombs myself!)

After the party, you can pass out the sponge bombs as favors or save them for another day. Complete instructions for this easy DIY project can be found at Love Is In the Details.
